About Yadira
Assalamu Alaikum! My name is Yadira Thabatah. I am an author and advocate with a passion for storytelling that connects, inspires, and educates. As someone who is completely blind, I strive to bring unique perspectives into my work, drawing from my experiences as a mother, wife, and Muslim woman. Through my writing, I aim to create stories that resonate with both children and adults, fostering curiosity and encouraging reflection.
My Story
My journey has been one filled with profound changes and blessings. Raised in a Catholic household, I found my way to Islam after meeting my husband, Nadir, who is legally blind. Converting to Islam was the most transformative experience of my life, one that brought me love, family, and a deeper connection to my faith. However, as a blind Muslim, I realized the lack of accessible Islamic literature in braille and felt a strong calling to advocate for change. This journey has not only shaped my mission but also deepened my understanding of the power of literacy and the importance of inclusion within the community.
Personal Life
Beyond my work as an author, I cherish my role as a wife and mother. Nadir and I have been married for eight beautiful years, and we are blessed with three wonderful children. Our life together is a testament to resilience, faith, and love. My in-laws have embraced me as their own, enriching our lives with their kindness and support. Every day, I am grateful for the love and unity that surrounds our family. I am also deeply committed to making a difference in the blind Muslim community by advocating for accessible Islamic resources in braille.
